Gun Found In Stamford Raid

A 20-year-old Stamford man was nabbed with a semi-automatic weapon after the Stamford Police Department received a tip that he was hiding the gun.

Charles Brand was arrested for illegal alteration of a pistol serial numbers and interfering with police on around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, said Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin.

According to Conklin officers in the Narcotics and Organized Crime squad obtained a search warrant and raided Stoneridge Circle home after hearing Brand had a pistol in his possession.

When officers entered the home they asked Brand if he had anything illegal and he told them no. But when officers searched his bedroom, they found the black diamond unloaded. 380 semi-automatic pistol in a sock inside his closet, Conklin said.

Conklin said someone had tried to deface the serial numbers, which led to the illegal alteration charge.

Brand is being held in lieu of a $100,000 court appearance bond.
