Have You Seen Him? Norwalk Police Seek Fraud Suspect

NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk Police are seeking the public's help identifying a suspect who scammed an out of state resident by pretending to be a law enforcement officer.

Police said that the victim received numerous phone calls from the suspect, who said he was a law enforcement officer. He demanded that the victim wire money because the victim's grandson was in jail, police said.

The victim ended up wiring $2,450 to the Stop & Shop on Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk, and on Oct. 14, the suspect picked up the fraudulent wire transfer, according to police.

Anyone who can identify the suspect or has any information is asked to contact the Detective Bureau at (203) 854-3011. Anonymous tips can be left at the Norwalk Police Tip Line at (203) 854-3111; anonymous Internet tips can be left at www.norwalkpd.com or anonymous text tips can be submitted by typing "NPD" into the text field, followed by the message, and sending it to CRIMES (274637).
