WILTON, Conn. A Brooklyn man has been charged with fourth-degree sexual assault on the complaint of a woman who said she was groped at her workplace on Danbury Road in Wilton.
The woman reported to the Wilton Police Department that she was groped by an unknown man on May 22. Police said they later determined that the man was Bismark Ntiri, 34, who was arrested Friday.
According to the police report, Ntiri, an immigrant from Ghana, gave detectives a statement that he was trying to adjust her clothing because of bare skin showing and apologized to the woman. He denied groping her.
Witnesses confirmed that Ntiri touched the woman, according to Wilton Police Capt. John Lynch .
During the investigation police discovered that Ntiri was working under the pseudonym Kwando Amankwah and had given his employers false information during a criminal history check. He had no criminal history, police said, but Ntiris work visa had expired in 2010.
The report said the department informed Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials that Ntiri was arrested, and they placed a detainer on him, which means he would be taken into federal custody if he made bail.
Ntiri was held on a $5,000 bond and arraigned June 11. The outcome of his arraignment was not known.
