WILTON, Conn. -- The Danbury Branch of Metro-North is shut down Thursday after an accident near the railroad tracks in Wilton.

Service on the line, which runs through Danbury, Bethel, Redding, Ridgefield Wilton, and Norwalk, was suspended due to police activity in the vicinity of the Cannondale and Branchville stations. Wilton Police said that at 10:40 a.m. they responded to a one-car accident in which the vehicle ended up next to the railroad tracks near 7 Mather Street. 

The line was shut down while the vehicle is being removed, police said. Nobody was injured in the accident.

Metro-North and Wilton Police said updates will be provided when more information becomes available. Train riders should listen for announcements at their stations.
