WILTON, Conn. -- The neighbor of the 65-year-old Wilton woman who lost her arm after an attack from a pet pit bull spoke Tuesday about the horrifying incident.

William D'arbanville spoke with Patch.com about t he attack that left Anne Murray seriously injured Monday . D'arbanville told Patch that he was headed from Wilton to class at Western Connecticut State University but turned around to get his cellphone when he noticed a Good Samaritan stopped on Range Road, according to the report.

"A dog walks out from in front of her car, and I thought it was a neighborhood dog. When she got out of her car, she yelled, 'Call the police.' She had gotten out of her car, but the dog was coming at her, biting at her," D'arbanville said in the report from Patch . "I yelled at her to get back in her car. And basically we didn't want to get out of our cars ... but we had our windows down. Then I looked over to the driveway. It took me like six seconds to realize what was under the car was a human being, because I'd never seen a human being in that condition before. She was crying out, 'Help me, it's killing me. Help me. My arm.'"

Capt. John Lynch previously reported that he found Murray seriously injured under her car, attempting to protect herself from her pet pit bull, according to the police report. Lynch shot and killed the dog, the police report said.

Murray was taken to Norwalk Hospital, where one arm was amputated and she was treated for multiple wounds on her body, police said. She was resting in the intensive care unit Tuesday in stable condition, according to the report .
