Norwalk Driver Had Pot, Police-Style Baton In Car, New Canaan Police Say

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- A Norwalk man was arrested in New Canaan on Wednesday afternoon after police found marijuana and a 10-inch police-style baton in his car, according to police.

At around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday an officer was patrolling in the area of White Oak Shade Road when he saw a car with illegal tints on the windows, according to police. The officer pulled the car over and spoke with the driver, 24-year-old Balvirbudh Bhullar of Norwalk. The officer reported smelling the odor of burnt marijuana, and could see the baton in plain view, which is considered a weapon in a motor vehicle, according to police.

Bhullar was taken into custody and charged with weapons in a motor vehicle, possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $500 bond.

A 23-year-old female passenger was also issued an infraction for possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
