A Sunwich Road homeowner discovered a male in his driveway on Sunday who was trying to steal his car, police said. The homeowner confronted the male and a struggle ensued before the suspect fled to his own car, which was parked on Meridian Road, police said.

Police are taking this opportunity to again remind residents of the importance of locking their cars and removing keys and fobs from their vehicles.

"We have stressed this repeatedly however the message is not getting through. These types of incidents put civilians, officers and potentially even the suspects at risk of injury or even death," Norwalk Police said.

"Please remember that the majority of vehicle break-ins and thefts occur with unlocked vehicles. So please lock your cars, remove the keys/fob and store valuables out of sight."

Police are encouraging residents to keep a watchful eye and report all suspicious activities, persons or vehicles. Call 911 for in-progress incidents or (203) 854-3000 for non-emergencies.
