Omar Reid, 20, was taken into custody by the Norwalk Police Special Services Division and the Darien Police Department. The arrests followed a lengthy investigation into heroin sales in Norwalk and along the Route 1 corridor in Darien, Norwalk police said.
Police said Reid is a self-proclaimed member of the "Rollin 30" Harlem Crip gang, and was accused of selling a large quantity of heroin in both towns.
During the investigation, Reid sold heroin to undercover officers at various locations in Norwalk, according to police reports. He was arrested Wednesday while attempting another transaction in the parking lot of 201 Liberty Square in Norwalk. Police said he had a bundle of heroin on him, which is commonly ten folds of packaged heroin. Officers executed a search warrant at Reid's home, where they found two more bundles of heroin in his bedroom, according to police reports.
Reid was held on five counts of possession and sale of narcotics. All of these cases occurred within 1,500 feet of a day-care center, so he was also charged with that count. He was also charged with the possession of the narcotics in his home, which is within 1,500 feet of a school. Bond was set at $450,000, and he will appear in court on April 17.
