The suspect in the Oct. 10 crime is described as a black man in his 20s, between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and black sneakers, and he was bald. He had either a goatee or chin-strap style facial hair, and he may also have tattoos on his left or on both forearms.
The 51-year-old Greenwich woman who was shot survived after she was treated in Norwalk Hospital for a wound to her abdomen. She was released from the hospital last fall after undergoing surgery.
After the crime, both Police Chief Thomas Kulhawik and Mayor Richard Moccia expressed confidence that the suspect would be caught, in part due to the brazenness of the shooting, which occurred at about 1:40 p.m.
But now the department is seeking the public’s help, and has released surveillance video from the South Norwalk Train Station, where the suspect went after the attack, Kulhawik said.
“Investigators found that following the incident the suspect traveled to the South Norwalk Metro North train station,” Kulhawik said in a statement. “Video obtained by investigators shows the suspect in several areas of the train station.”
Police said the woman had been shopping at the store and walked back to her white Mercedes-Benz sedan when she was approached by the suspect. She was shot while she was in her car.
The suspect is believed to be from the Norwalk area, but he may be residing in the greater New Haven, greater Hartford or New York areas.
