Norwalk Sex Offender Pleads Guilty To Assaulting 2-Year-Old

NORWALK, Conn. — A 32-year-old registered sex offender from Norwalk pleaded guilty this week to assaulting a 2-year-old girl and severely injuring her, according to the Hour.

Pedro Salinas had been arrested in July 2016 after police said he assaulted the 2-year-old who was living with family at his home, causing her severe injury, according to police. The girl was taken to the hospital for severe injuries, and Salinas was charged with first-degree assault, cruelty to persons and risk of injury to a minor.

In March 2017, Salinas was additionally charged with sexual assault of a child. Police said that Salinas had lured the girl's mother from California to live with him.

While appearing in court on Tuesday, Salinas pleaded guilty to reduced charges of first-degree assault, fourth-degree sexual assault and two counts of risk of injury to a minor, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Salinas is due to be sentenced in March, and is expected to be sentenced to four years in prison followed by 20 years on probation, according to the Stamford Advocate.
