The robbery occurred at Star Fuels on Jennings Road off the Black Rock Turnpike on Saturday, June 23 at about 9:40 p.m., said Lieutenant Robert Kalamaras of the Fairfield Police Department.

The store clerk called 911 to report he had just been robbed by two black males, one of which may have had a gun underneath his shirt, Kalamaras said. The second male punched the clerk in the face just before taking cash from the register, Kalamaras added. The store clerk was not seriously injured. According to the clerk, the males were last seen running on Jennings Road.

A K-9 track led officers directly to a male that matched the description of one of the suspects emerging from a residential backyard at the intersection of Old Stratfield Road and Black Rock Turnpike. He was taken into custody without incident.

Items of evidence from the robbery were located near where the suspect was taken into custody. After several K-9 tracks were conducted, officers were unable to locate the second suspect.

The suspect caught, a 17-year-old from Bridgeport, was arrested and charged with robbery in the first degree and conspiracy to commit robbery. He was turned over to the custody of a family member after being issued a juvenile summons.

This case is currently under investigation by the Fairfield Police Detective Bureau. Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to call the Detective Bureau at (203)254-4840, or Text-A-Tip to CRIMES (274637).
