WILTON, Conn. – Approximately $700 in cash was stolen from the Georgetown Shell on Danbury Road in Wilton Tuesday night, police said.
The burglary occurred around 6:30 p.m. when the station attendant went outside to help a female customer with an air pump, police said. When the employee returned inside, he found the cash register empty, police said.
A suspicious male wearing a hooded sweater and what appeared to be a turtle neck pulled up over his mouth and nose was seen at the gas station minutes before the female customer arrived, police said. The same male was captured on the station’s video surveillance taking the money from the register, police said.
Police are not sure if the woman was in on the burglary, serving as a distraction to the station attendant, or if her presence was just a coincidence. However, she is described as a white woman, approximately 25-years-old with dark hair driving a blue Scion TC.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Wilton Police at 203-834-6260.
