The crash, which occurred around 3:42 p.m., Monday, on Route 172 in the area of West Patent Road, sent 14 people to area hospitals, with various injuries, none of which were life-threatening, said Lt., Matthew Hawley.
According to Hawley, the driver of a 2008 Jeep, Mimi Rand, 55, of Stamford, Conn., crossed the double yellow line, causing the bus to drive to the right to try and avoid the crash, but was unable to avoid the vehicle, Hawley said.
The camera onboard the bus shows the Jeep crossing the line just seconds before the crash, he added.
The roadway was immediately closed and officers requested multiple ambulances. Bedford Police, along with the Accident Investigation Unit and the Bedford Hills Fire Department were also dispatched to the scene.
Rand was transported to the Westchester County Medical Center with serious injuries, Hawley said.
The driver of the bus was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital with minor injuries. The passengers on the bus were transported to Westchester Medical Center, Northern Westchester Hospital and White Plains Hospital, all with what appear to be non-life threatening injuries. A total of 10 ambulances responded and transported patients.
