Original story: STRATFORD, Conn. — Crews have recovered the body of a person who may have fallen off the Washington Bridge in Stratford into the Housatonic River on Wednesday, according to the Connecticut Post.

First responders had been searching the river and the Long Island Sound for the person on Wednesday morning, the Connecticut Post reported. The U.S. Coast Guard had assisted Stratford and Milford police and fire crews in the search for the unidentified person, according to the Connecticut Post.

The Connecticut Post reported that officials had not released much information about the nature of the incident, and the person who was recovered has not yet been identified. The bridge is part of Route 1 and connects Stratford to the Devon section of Milford.
