Miguel Barragan-Santiago, 33, was charged with second-degree manslaughter and misconduct with a motor vehicle and held on $450,000 bond.

The crash occurred at 8 p.m. Sunday, and Henry Petrucelli of Brookfield was killed instantly when his Honda Civic was hit by the suspect's pickup truck.

Petrucelli was northbound on South Main Street when he was hit by Barragan-Santiago's pickup near 292 S. Main St., police said. Barragan-Santiago was taken to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries. Petrucelli was declared dead at the scene of the crash, police said.

Barragan-Santiago's bond was so set high because the Mexican immigrant was considered a high flight risk, according to the News-Times. He is due to appear in court on April 19.
