Earlier in the day, Shelton officers responded to an incident involving Davie McMillian, police said. Hours after the incident, someone called Shelton Police to say McMillian had left a bag behind at the scene and it appeared to contain some type of drugs, police said.

The caller wanted to turn it over to the police.

Shelton officers responded to the scene to retrieve the bag, which officers confirmed contained “a moderate amount of crack cocaine,” police said.

A short time later, McMillian arrived at the police department to reclaim the bag, police said. He entered the lobby with a woman, who was identified as a victim who had a full no-contact protective order against McMillian, police said.

Police arrested McMillian, charging him with illegal possession of narcotics and violation of a protective order, police said.

He was placed on $11,000 bond and sent to Derby Superior Court on Sept. 26.
