Shooting Death Of 30-Year-Old Man In Kent Ruled A Homicide

KENT, Conn. — The shooting death of a Kent man late Friday has been ruled a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

State Police say 30-year-old Andre Edness died from a gunshot wound. 

Police have a person of interest in custody, but they have not filed any charges in the homicide. Authorities say the person is cooperating with the investigation. Police say there is no threat to the public.

Edness was shot in his home at 381 Kent Cornwall Road in Kent early Friday evening, State Police spokesman Sgt. Eric Haglund said.

No information has been released on the person of interest. 

The incident occurred at approximately 6 p.m., when Edness sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound, Haglund said.

He was transported to a hospital, and Haglund reported at about 9:15 p.m. Friday that Edness had died. 

State Troopers from Troop L are investigating the incident along with detectives from Major Crime, who also responded to the scene to assist with this investigation.

Kent Cornwall Road/Route 7 was closed between Carter Road and Cobble Road for hours after the shooting, according to State Police.
