Andrew El Massri, 28, of 105 Grassy Hill Road, Waterbury, was charged Tuesday afternoon with third-degree larceny, a felony.

Police said the arrest stems from an investigation into the theft of a Jeep Liberty from a residence on Sunset Hill Road in the early morning hours of July 18. Police said El Massri crashed a stolen motorcycle on Route 7 in Ridgefield at about 10 p.m., July 17 and was dropped off at Calaruzzi’s Market in Wilton about 10 minutes later.

Police said the missing Jeep Liberty was parked approximately a quarter mile away from the market. Police said a witness in Waterbury saw El Massri driving a black Jeep Liberty on July 19 and numerous people saw that he had injuries consistent with having been in a motorcycle crash.

Wilton officers arrested El Massri on Tuesday in Waterbury. He was ordered held on $25,000 bond and was scheduled to appear Tuesday in Norwalk Superior Court.
