Wilton Firefighters Help Battle Blaze In Weston Barn

WESTON, Conn. - Weston firefighters quickly put out a fully engulfed two-story barn blaze on Georgetown Road during a rainstorm on Thursday night, according to fire officials.

It took Weston firefighters two hours to completely put out a fully involved fire in a two-story barn on Georgetown Road Thursday night.

Shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday, the Weston Volunteer Fire Department was called to a house in the 200 block of Georgetown Road and arrived to a barn fully engulfed in flames.

Despite the early "fire attack" by the firefighters, the building collapsed within minutes of the firefighters on the scene. After the collapse, however, the fire was quickly extinguished.

Firefighters remained on the scene until just before 11 p.m. Thursday, extinguishing all remaining hot spots that had been concealed by the building's collapse.

The Wilton Fire Department responded as mutual aid with a tanker. With the help of the Weston police department, a portion of Georgetown Road was closed during the incident.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is still being investigated by the Weston fire marshal.
