Westport Cops: Danbury Man Charged With Drunken Driving Twice In Three Days

WESTPORT, Conn. — A Danbury man was arrested twice in three days for drunken driving in the area of Turkey Hill Road South, police said.

Officers were looking for Bradford Brown, 50, of Forty Acre Mountain, around 7:15 p.m. May 12, when he left a Turkey Hill Road South home and drove off in the owner’s car without her permission, police said.

The victim said Brown had spent the previous night at her home because he had nowhere else to stay, police said. She told police he was “highly intoxicated” and sleeping in her bed later in the day.

When she went to wake him, he stormed out of the residence and drove off in her car, police said.

Officers stopped Brown on Morningside Drive South, where they detected the odor of alcohol on his breath and he appeared glassy-eyed and his speech was slow and slurred, police said.

He declined field sobriety tests and refused to take a breath test when he was brought back to the station, police said.

Brown was charged with operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol and using a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission. He was held on $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 22.

On May 9, an officer saw Brown driving erratically on Turkey Hill Road South around 6:30 p.m., police said.

The officer stopped the car on Post Road East and noticed the odor of alcohol on Brown’s breath, police said. Brown failed field sobriety tests and refused to take a breath test when he got to the station, police said.

He was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol He was held on $1,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on May 17.
