Westport Police: Man Who Drove Into House Faces Drunken Driving Charge

WESTPORT, Conn. — A Westport man was charged with drunken driving when he drove into the front of a home and attempted to flee, police said.

Officers called to the home around 10:15 p.m. Dec. 12 found the vehicle up against the front steps of the house, police said.

The driver, Danny Oliva, 22, of Hales Court, had trouble standing and officers detected the odor of alcohol on his breath, police said.

Officers saw minor damage to the car and the steps to the house, police said.

Oliva was taken into custody and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs/alcohol and illegal operating under suspension, police said.

He was released on a promise to appear in court on Dec. 21.
