WILTON, Conn. — Wilton firefighters will hold a remembrance ceremony for those who died during the terrorist attack of Sept. 11, 2001.
This year's ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, at Fire Headquarters located at 236 Danbury Road. The public is welcome to attend the event.
Five Wilton residents were killed in the attacks 15 years ago: Edward Fergus, Peter C. Fry, John Henwood, John F. Iskyan and Edward P. York.
The ceremony in Wilton will feature a procession of emergency responders and remarks from local officials.
"Following 9/11, the American Fire Services vowed to never forget all of the first responders and victims loss," said Wilton Fire Chief Ronald Kanterman. "That's means never forgetting the sacrifice made by all of the firefighters and first responders on that day."
Kanterman said Sept. 11 changed the way all fire departments do business and changed the world.
"It's important to make sure the victims are honored," he added.
