Police charged Michael DiPilato, 50, of Wilton with disorderly conduct in connection with the incident.

"They were actually decorating the Christmas tree at the time," Wilton Police Lt. Donald Wakeman said. "They were having the argument, the female victim actually smacked one of the ornaments off the tree to the floor and it broke."

She didn't suffer any apparent injuries, Wakeman said.

"He grabbed the wrists of the female and as he did so he pushed her against the wall," he said.

DiPilato was scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk on Monday, police said.
