WILTON, Conn. – A 22-year-old Wilton man who crashed into a pole was arrested early Sunday on drunken-driving charges, police say.
The driver, a resident of Hulda Hill Road, was almost home when he took a wide right turn onto Hulda Hill from Branchbrook Road and crossed into the opposite traffic lane, police said. The driver then crashed into a pole on the east side of Hulda Hill, the police report said.
The driver’s blood-alcohol level measured at 0.179 —more than two-times the legal limit of 0.08, police said.
He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, a misdemeanor, and several motor vehicle violations. He was released on a promise to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on March 21.
