Wilton Police Adding Body Cameras By April

WILTON, CONN. -- Wilton police officers will soon be wearing body cameras, according to a report by WiltonBulletin.com.

The $17,000 for the 15 cameras, software, and accessories, will be paid with a Justice Assistance grant and a donation from a charitable fund, WiltonBulletin.com reported.

WiltonBulletin.com reported that police tested several camera providers before settling on VIEVU. They will wear them starting in April, WiltonBulletin.com said.

VIEVU is part of the Safariland Group. a company with "a rich heritage in law enforcement and sporting markets," according to its website.

Footage from the VIEVU cameras is only retained for 90 days, Wilton police told WiltonBulletin.com.
