WILTON, Conn. – When you visit the Wilton Police Department in the future, you will see a small statue that has a big message.

Wilton police will have a foot-high sculpture called “Solider of Remembrance” on display in the department’s lobby. The statue was created and made by Wilton resident Peter Rubino and donated by Peg Koellmer, a Realtor with Realty Seven.

Koellmer successfully bid for the statue during a fundraising auction at the Wilton Trackside Teen Center. The statue was created to honor Connecticut’s fallen soldiers. A larger version is in the State Capitol in Hartford.

“We’re honored to have it here,” Wilton Police Chief Michael Lombardo said. “We need to remember the people who gave their lives for our freedoms. It’s something we can never forget.”
