Nechtali Lara, 37, of 205 Savoy St., Bridgeport, was charged with sixth-degree larceny and forgery. He posted $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
Wilton police said a resident reported five years ago that a pair of unauthorized checks totaling $500 had been cashed and deposited into another account.
Officers were able to tie Lara to the transactions but were unable to locate him, Wilton police said. Police said he had been working as a cleaning person and was able to access the victim's checkbook.
