Wilton Police: Reckless Driver With Kids In Car Had Mushrooms, Pot

WILTON, Conn. -- A Danbury man accused of running another car off the road in Wilton had two children in his car, along with hallucinogenic mushrooms and marijuana, according to police.

A driver complained to police that he was run off the road on Tuesday, Nov. 7 by 30-year-old Robert Dillard of Danbury, while driving on Danbury Road in Wilton. Police located Dillard's car and stopped it on Danbury Road. 

While speaking with Dillard, officers could detect the odor of marijuana coming from the car, according to police reports. There were also two children in the car at the time of the traffic stop, police said.

A search of the car turned up marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms, according to police.

Dillard was charged with risk of injury to a child, possession of hallucinogenics, possession of less than a half ounce of marijuana, reckless driving, as well as seat belt violations. He was given a $1,000 bond and a court date of Nov. 17.
