During the early morning hours of June 4, police discovered a sump pump draining sewage from the restaurant’s septic tank into a storm drain on Sugar Hollow Road, the police report said. The restaurant is at 991 Danbury Road.

In the pumping process, some of the sewage pooled in a lower parking area on the property and entered the Norwalk River, police said.

Criscuolo, 43, a resident of West Meadow Road in Wilton, turned himself in to police last Friday on a warrant. He was charged with discharging without a permit, a misdemeanor.

Criscuolo was released on a promise to appear in court on July 2.

The investigation included the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and the Wilton Department of Environmental Affairs.
