Wilton Roads Closed After Strong Winds Knock Down Trees

WILTON, Conn. — Strong overnight winds knocked down trees and closed roads in Wilton, with some closures continuing into late Tuesday morning, the Wilton police said.

Carriage Drive is closed at Ridgefield Road for a fallen tree, police said in a Facebook post. And Thunder Lake Road is closed at 50 Indian Hill for another tree down. 

Late Monday night, Route 7 in Wilton was blocked by a large downed tree and power lines, police said. Wilton CERT members were out on Route 7 until midnight, detouring traffic around downed power lines, a Facebook post said. Route 7 had reopened by early Tuesday. 

As of 11:15 a.m., Eversource was reporting only two power outages in Wilton. At one point late Monday, there were 248 power outages reported in town.
