Woman Accused Of Illegal Trash Dumping In Wilton

WILTON, Conn. – A Massachusetts woman is facing a larceny charge after being accused of dumping garbage bags into a commercial trash bin.

Elizabeth Mellor, 61, of Wellfleet, Mass., was charged with sixth-degree larceny. Police said Mellor dumped two bags of trash into a trash collection bin at a shopping center off Danbury Road.

Police said Mellor, who was moving to Massachusetts, was tracked down through contact information in the trash bags. Police said the business owner using the bin complained of having to pay for extra runs because of extra trash being collected.

Mellor was charged on Sept. 10. A sixth-degree larceny charge comes from a theft of service under $250, police said.

Mellor is scheduled to appear Tuesday in Norwalk Superior Court.
