Boucher, Lavielle To Host Health-Care Forum Thursday In Wilton

WILTON, Conn. -- State Rep. Gail Lavielle (R-143rd District) and state Sen. Toni Boucher (R-26th District) are inviting the public to join a discussion with health-care experts in Wilton.

Lavielle and Boucher are hosting an informational panel discussion with health-care experts and business leaders at 8:45 a.m. Thursday at the Wilton Public Library at 137 Old Ridgefield Road in Wilton.

Lavielle represents parts of Wilton, Norwalk. and Westport. Boucher represents Redding and Wilton, and parts of New Canaan, Ridgefield, Weston and Westport.

The two legislators are hoping to "raise awareness and inform individuals, senior citizens and small business owners about the Federal Affordable Care Act & CT Healthcare Exchange and how these newly implemented health insurance regulations will affect them and their businesses," according to the release.

The forum promises to feature "expert panelists who will explain and answer questions about the implementation of the new Healthcare Exchange which took effect on Oct. 1," according to the release.

"Boucher and Lavielle have assembled a wide range of experts in areas of healthcare, insurance and small business to answer questions and share the possible impact and consequences for small businesses, the self-insured, independent contractors, senior citizens, and people with pre-existing conditions, state HUSKY participants and anyone who is currently uninsured," said the release.

The panel is set to feature the following representatives:

  • Demian Fontanella, General Counsel, Office of the Healthcare Advocate
  • John Lavin, Owner, Beacon Physician Placement Services
  • Dr. Robin Oshman, board-certified dermatologist, President of the Fairfield County Medical Association
  • Jason Madrak, Chief Marketing Officer, Access Health CT
  • George Watts, employee benefits adviser, Health Consultants Group in Plainville
