Norwalk Voters Head To Polls For Municipal Elections

NORWALK, Conn. – Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday for Norwalk residents to cast their ballots for mayor and other municipal races.

Republican Mayor Richard Moccia seeks his fifth two-year term in office Tuesday. Democratic former Police Chief Harry Rilling hopes to become just the second Democratic mayor in Norwalk in more than two decades.

Norwalk voters also will cast ballots in the race for the Board of Education, Town Clerk, city treasurer, sheriff, selectmen and constables. District and at-large Common Council seats and taxing district commissioner and treasurer seats also are on the ballot this year.

For those ready to cast their ballots, here are Norwalk’s polling places: District A-1: Tracey Elementary School, 20 Camp St. District A-2: St. Mary's Community Hall, 669 West Ave. District A-3: Kendall Elementary School, 57 Fillow St. District A-4: Nathan Hale Middle School (Front of Gym), 176 Strawberry Hill Ave. District B-1: Columbus Elementary School, 46 Concord St. District B-2: Nathaniel Ely School, 11 Ingalls Ave District C-1: Marvin Elementary School, 15 Calf Pasture Beach Road District C-2: Nathan Hale Middle School (Back of Gym), 176 Strawberry Hill Ave. District D-1: Ponus Ridge Middle School, 21 Hunters Lane District D-2: West Rocks Middle School, 81 West Rocks Road District E-1: Brookside Elementary School, 382 Highland Ave. District E-2: Rowayton Elementary School, 1 Roton Ave. District E-3: Fox Run Elementary School, 228 Fillow St.

Norwalk Public Schools will be closed Tuesday while most of the city’s schools act as polling places.

Connecticut will allow same-day Election Day voter registration for residents who are not signed up to vote or who want to change the town in which they vote. That registration must be done at Town Hall with a registrar of voters. Proof of residency and identity will be required. Read more about same-day voter registration here in The Daily Voice.
