VP Candidate Paul Ryan To Speak In Darien

DARIEN, Conn. — Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan will be in Darien on Sept. 30 for a fundraiser at the Woodway Country Club.

The event will include a reception and roundtable with the Wisconsin congressman. Tickets for the general reception are $1,000 per person. Children under 17 will be allowed into the general reception for free. The photo reception will be $5,000 per photo, and the roundtable costs $10,000 per person.

The event will begin at 2:30 p.m., but attendees are asked to arrive no later than 1:30 p.m. for the security checkin. The Woodway Country Club is located at 540 Hoyt St. in Darien.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney chose Ryan as his running mate Aug. 11. Ryan is serving his seventh term as the representative for Wisconsin's 1st District and serves as chairman of the House Budget Committee. He is best known for his work drafting the Republican Party's 2012 budget proposal, "The Path to Prosperity."

Co-chairs for the Darien event include several Republican elected officials, including state Sen. Toni Boucher, state Rep. Larry Cafero, former Lt. Gov. Mike Fedele, state Rep. Gail Lavielle, New Canaan First Selectman Robert Mallozzi, Norwalk Mayor Richard Moccia, Stamford Mayor Michael Pavia, Darien First Selectman Jayme Stevenson and state Rep. Terrie Wood.

Contributions will go to Romney Victory Inc., a joint fundraising committee of Romney for President, the Republican National Committee, the National Republican Senatorial Committee, the National Republican Congressional Committee and the official Republican Parties of Idaho, Massachusetts, Oklahoma and Vermont.
