Wilton League Of Women Voters Hosts Himes-Debicella Debate

WILTON, Conn. – The Wilton League of Women Voters is joining with other chapters of the league to present a debate between the 4th District Congressional candidates on Sunday, Oct. 19, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Clune Performing Arts Center at Wilton High School.

Stamford’s Kay Maxwell, a former president of the League of Women Voters of the United States and current executive director of the Stamford-based World Affairs Forum, will be the moderator.

Co-sponsors of the event are the Leagues of Women Voters of the Bridgeport Area, Darien, Fairfield, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Redding, Ridgefield, Stamford, Weston, Westport and Wilton. 

The afternoon’s format will include questions collected in writing from the audience and others prepared by league members. 

Himes of Greenwich is a Democrat representing the 4th Congressional District since 2008. He was a business executive before being elected to Congress. He graduated from Harvard and was a Rhodes Scholar, Oxford University.

His Republican challenger, Dan Debicella, is a businessman and former state senator who represented the 21st District. Debicella ran unsuccessfully against Himes in 2010. He is a graduate of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and Harvard Business School.
