Wilton Voters Approve Town, School Budgets Totaling $125.5M

WILTON, Conn. — After two days of voting, residents in Wilton approved the town and school budgets totaling nearly $125.5 million for the next fiscal year, according to the town website.

Voter turnout was only 18 percent with voting on Tuesday, May 3, and Saturday, May 7.

Voters had three options, and final tally for the town budget was 1,181 vote to approve, 888 no, too high, and 36 no, too low.

A capital project totaling $1.8 million for road restoration was approved 1,636 to 452.

A second capital project to spend $650,000 to replace the crumb rubber football field at Wilton High School with organic turf also passed, 1,200 to 891.

Of the town's 11,659 eligible voters, 2,108 cast ballots, the town said.

Spending is up 1 percent over last fiscal year for the town and school budgets, according to the Wilton Bulletin. The mill rate will be 27.3371, the Bulletin said.
