'Go Green' Tour Showcases Three Wilton Homes

WILTON, Conn. – Pick up ideas for greener living at a Spring Green Homes tour Sunday, May 20, sponsored by Wilton Go Green.

The tours are offered between 1 and 5:30 p.m. and features three homes in Wilton and one in New Canaan that are environmentally responsible and sustainable.

Tickets are $20 per person (or family) and can be picked up at Wilton’s Old Town Hall. Maps to the homes will be available following sign-in with a photo ID. Everyone may tour the three Wilton homes. The New Canaan home tour is offered at 2 and 3:30 p.m. and by reservation only on a first-come first-served basis. Reservations may only be made on May 20.

Several green exhibitors, including Little People Big Changes, Community Energy and Neighbor to Neighbor Energy Challenge, will be at Old Town Hall to explain Connecticut’s Clean Energy Options Program and how to reduce home energy use.  Vendors such as BPC Green Builders, People’s Products, Real Goods Solar, Wesson Energy and Trillium Architects will be available to answer questions.  

In addition, every ticket purchaser will get a coupon for a home lighting visit from Neighbor to Neighbor and receive up to 25 compact fluorescent light bulbs installed for free. Three home energy audits valued at $700 will be among the prizes in a free drawing for all participants.

“We basically want to educate people,” said Jana Bertkau, president of Wilton Go Green. “We put a lot of heart into it and we’re so grateful. Our homeowners are awesome and they’ve been very receptive to this.”

Parking is available off Belden Hill Road behind Old Town Hall. Tickets may be purchased in advance at www.wiltongogreen.org.
