Motorcycle Ride Through Easton, Redding To Raise Child-Abuse Awareness

EASTON, Conn. -- Riders taking a 50-mile motorcycle trip that will head through Fairfield County are hoping to raise awareness of child abuse.

The event itself incorporates a poker game into the 50-mile ride on Sunday, May 18, through Bethel, Bridgeport, Fairfield, Easton, Monroe, Newtown, Redding and Trumbull.

All proceeds from the event will benefit The Center for Family Justice (formerly The Center for Women and Families) in Bridgeport in its "fight against child and domestic abuse, sexual assault and bullying," said a press release.

Riders can register at The Center’s headquarters, 753 Fairfield Ave. in Bridgeport. Subsequent stops include Redding Fire House No. 1, 186 Black Rock Turnpike, Redding; Monroe Town Hall, 7 Fan Hill Road, Monroe; Trumbull Town Hall, 5866 Main St., Trumbull; and Germania Schwaben Club, 416 Horace St., Bridgeport.

Committee members are Fred Garrity Jr., executive director of the CT United Ride; Kevin Hammel, a former detective in the Trumbull Police Department; Bruce Martin of AmericanCustom.com; Dave Peck, former chief of the Fairfield Police Department, Art Reid, deputy chief of the Fairfield Fire Department, Bob Schwartz of the Trumbull Police Department, and Paul Ferencz, Mike Rebar and Andy Semon of the Germania Schwaben Club.

The cost is $25 per rider, $15 per passenger, which includes lunch.
