Yorktown Summer Concert Series Kicks Off Sunday

YORKTOWN, N.Y. - It's become an annual tradition Yorktown residents look forward to with great anticipation.

The 18th annual Summer Concert Series, hosted by the Yorktown Lions Club and Yorktown Parks and Recreation Department kicks off at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Jack DeVito Field gazebo on Veterans Road with an Eagles tribute entitled "Desert Highway."

Free concerts will be given every other Sunday through August thanks to the contributions of many local sponsors and contributors, according to Lions Club member Denise D'Amico.

"The club members work hard each year to bring to Yorktown and the surrounding communities the best possible performances that we can possibly afford and it is with the monetary donations from our major sponsors and others that this can happen," D'Amico said.

The lineup for this year's series is as follows:

June 17: Eagles tribute "Desert Highway"

July 1: Neil Diamond tribute "Simply Diamond"

July 15: Tom Chapin in concert

July 29: Bee Gees tribute "Stayin' Alive";

Aug. 12: Music from the 1960s by Alter Ego

Aug. 26: Show Time Dance Band Nine Piece Group.

Each concert is scheduled for two hours. Vendors will be on hand selling refreshments.
