WILTON, Conn. – The site of a planned housing development in Wilton will be purchased and finished by a new home-building firm.
Toll Brothers Inc., a residential and commercial development company, plans to complete the purchase of the Greyrock Cos. home development site off River Road by the end of the year.
It plans to build 20 homes on the property, each with three or four bedrooms and about 3,000 square feet in size, said Greg Kamedulski, New England division president at Toll Brothers. Construction will begin in May or June, he said, starting with completion of the driveway to the site and the road network.
“We believe it’s a great location,” Kamedulski said. “It’s very close to the downtown (Wilton Center) and the shopping.”
Toll Brothers developed the Wilton Hunt housing community off Route 33. The developer has 17 home developments in Connecticut and Massachusetts. “It’s a good opportunity in a really good town,” Kamedulski said of Wilton.
Construction at the Greyrock site, not far from Horseshoe Pond, stopped in late 2007 due to a slow housing market. Town officials have plans with Yankee Gas to expand natural gas distribution to the site, which First Selectman Bill Brennan cited as “a significant factor” in getting the Toll Brothers to be involved.
