Motorists and residents should be on the lookout as the buses hit the roads and as kids begin hiking off to classes.

Students who are entering sixth grade and ninth grade have an extra day, starting Wednesday, Aug. 27, for orientation. All other students start Thursday, Aug. 28.

Classes at all elementary schools except for Holland Hill run from 8:55 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on a regular day. Holland Hill begins 8:10 a.m. and lets its students out at 2:45 p.m.

The middle school days run from 8:10 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. Both high schools will open at 7:30 a.m. and get out at 2:10 p.m.

The first week of school is a short one, only two full days of classes before the Labor Day long weekend offers students a day off.
