"We are very excited to welcome a former Brien McMahon student and Norwalk native to the HSC team," said Anthony DiLauro, executive director of the Human Services Council.

"Diamond came to the Human Services Council as an intern eager to learn how she could help support Children's Connection but quickly took on a leadership role within the program," said Program Director Kari Pesavento, who supervised Sead over the past six months.

Carol Harker, who was Sead's advisor at Norwalk Community College, added, "Through her field placement at the Human Services Council, Diamond has exemplified the kind of student we want to see in the Human Services Program -- someone who has shown mastery of the academic skills and now is able to enter the field and utilize those skills as she begins her career path in helping people."

"I never would have thought that I would be working for the organization that helped me so much throughout my high school years, especially during my pregnancy in my junior year," Sead said. "The Health Center not only provided me with medical help but great counseling in my toughest times.

"I am now finishing up my final semester at Norwalk Community College. If it wasn't for their Human Services degree program, I would never have had this opportunity. Between NCC and my internship at the Human Services Council, both organizations have set me on a great career path."

"I am personally very proud of Diamond’s journey from being a health center student/patient, to attending college in pursuit of a career in Human Services and ultimately being hired to work in the field she's most passionate about, due to her wanting to give back," said Carlos Reinoso Jr., who is director of the School Based Health Centers. "Diamond’s story is one that truly represents what non-profit work is all about."
