New Director Named At Center For Global Studies Serving Wilton Students

NORWALK, Conn. — Julie Parham was recently appointed to be the new director of the Center for Global Studies, an interdistrict magnet school based at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk, the Norwalk Board of Education announced.

The Center for Global Studies, housed at Brien McMahon High School, is an inter-district, international studies magnet school that focuses upon Arabic, Chinese and Japanese language, history, and culture.

The Center for Global Studies is an international studies magnet school that focuses upon Arabic, Chinese and Japanese language, history, and culture. 

In addition to serving students from Norwalk, where it is located, the Center for Global Studies currently has students from Bethel, Bridgeport, Darien, Fairfield, Milford, Monroe, New Canaan, Ridgefield, Stamford, Stratford, Trumbull, Weston, Westport, and Wilton.

Parham joined Norwalk Public Schools in 2010 as a world literature Instructor at the Center for Global Studies. Most recently, she has also been serving as the co-coordinator of the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma program at Brien McMahon High School.

Her teaching experience includes positions as an English teacher for Fairfield Warde High School in Fairfield and Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park, N.Y. She holds a master's in English and comparative literature from the University of Cincinnati, and a bachelor's in theatre and sociology from Drake University.
