A limited number of renewable scholarships, $10,000 each, will be offered to incoming students interested in entering the Academy’s middle school during the 2016-2017 school year.

In addition to honoring the contributions of the school’s founding Chairman, Howard Turner, the school’s Associate Head of School & Director of Enrollment, David M. Suter, said that the program will also fulfill the school’s mission of promoting high quality academics and character education among students in the greater Fairfield-Westchester County area.

“We’re inviting academically and personally accomplished students to join us at Ridgefield Academy,” said Suter. “We’re seeking families who are committed to our mission, and we believe that these scholarships will helpfully connect prospective families looking for the best in K-8 education with all that our current student and parent populations have come to know about RA’s engaging and empowering experience, its rewarding and inspiring program and its warm community. These are the very same things Howard Turner and those who appreciate his contributions over the years have come to love about Ridgefield Academy.”

Candidates for the Ridgefield Academy Turner Scholarship are dedicated students who demonstrate academic achievement, currently participate in activities outside of the classroom and show evidence of good character and citizenship. A candidate should also demonstrate potential to contribute to Ridgefield Academy’s artistic, athletic and service learning programs.

Applicants must be new students who are interested in attending Ridgefield Academy’s middle school, entering grades four or five during the 2016-2017 school year. (New students are defined as children having never attended Ridgefield Academy prior to 2016-2017.) Applications should be submitted by Jan. 15, 2016, though submissions received after that date will still be considered as funds remain available.

The scholarship will not change, impact or replace the school’s current admission and financial aid programs.

“We’re enthusiastic about what this new program can mean for the next generation at Ridgefield Academy,” Suter said, “because the program honors the years of service Mr. Turner has given to the Academy in a way that is consistent with our mission, and that will also allow more students to enjoy the innovative and inspiring school experience at Ridgefield Academy.”
