Benjamin Frimmer, director of Coleytown Company, brings his considerable creative expertise to this production of “The Addams Family.” As in years past, Frimmer is working with seasoned theater professionals, many of whom have Broadway credits. For the second year in a row, this team includes Adam Riegler, assistant director.

Riegler, a Westport native and a Staples High School junior, was in the original cast of “The Addams Family” on Broadway. He is an experienced actor with many Broadway, film and television credits. His work on Broadway includes roles in “Shrek” and “The Addams Family,” in which he played Pugsley Addams alongside Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth.

In Coleytown Company’s latest production, the creepy Addams Family must confront the ghastly news that daughter Wednesday is getting married to  a “normal” young man. The musical comedy, based on the classic and beloved property, features Wednesday, her parents Gomez and Morticia, brother Pugsley and Uncle Fester, as well as other familiar favorites.

Frimmer is overseeing a production that includes nearly 80 students (64 cast members and 14 students on tech crew). At the helm of Coleytown Company‘s set design is Peter Barbieri, who has worked with Frimmer for many years. Barbieri is an expert in technical theater, with years of experience on leading Broadway productions, with renowned theater companies and successful national tours.

“The Addams Family” book is by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa. The Addams Family began as a cartoon in the New Yorker in 1938 and became a popular television series 50 years ago this year. There have also been two Addams Family feature films.
