WILTON, Conn. – Sunny skies are in the forecast for Saturday, when about 300 seniors from Wilton High School will receive their high school diplomas.

The commencement ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. School officials ask that graduates meet at 4:15 p.m. in the Clune auditorium.

Seating at Memorial Stadium is unrestricted. However, in the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved inside the fieldhouse. If this happens, seating will be limited to eight tickets per family.

As is the tradition, the class valedictorian will not be disclosed until the ceremony, Principal Robert O’Donnell said. The same rules apply to the identity of the graduation speaker.

“The students vote on who the graduation speaker will be, and that’s always a surprise for them,” O’Donnell said.

Later Saturday night, graduates can enjoy a post-graduation party at Middlebrook Middle School. Organized by the Post-Graduation Party committee, which is made up of parents of graduating seniors, the drug and alcohol-free celebration kicks off at 10:30 p.m. and runs until 5 a.m.

Friday is not only graduation day, it’s also the last day of classes for all students in the district.
