WILTON, CONN. -- Two Wilton music teachers have announced that they intend to retire at the end of the school year, according to a report by wiltonbulletin.com.
Frank “Chip” Gawle, a Stamford resident who teaches at Wilton High School, recently was selected as one of just 10 finalists in the country for the 2016 Music Educator Award presented by the Grammy Foundation and The Recording Academy, according to a report in the Daily Voice.
John Rhodes, band director at Middlebrook School, helped establish Wilton High School’s marching band in the early 1970’s, according to the wiltonbulletin.com story.
Gawle and Rhodes announced their decisions to retire at a recent band concert, wiltonbulletin.com reported.
They will help with the transition, the wiltonbulletin.com story said.
