WILTON, Conn. - Wilton’s Mallory Piedmont was awarded a bachelor of science degree cum laude in marketing during Salve Regina University's 64th commencement held Sunday, May 18, overlooking the Cliff Walk in Newport, R.I.
Piedmont is a member of Alpha Mu Alpha international honor society of the American Marketing Association and is a member of Delta Epsilon Sigma national scholastic honor society for students of Catholic colleges and universities.
TED Conference creator and author of seven dozen books Richard Saul Wurman presented the commencement address, urging students to "give themselves permission" to be interested in a variety of things as they move forward. "Do you understand the privilege - even if you have to work - of learning?" he said. "This is joy. This path, the journey, is just pure joy."
Salve Regina President Jane Gerety, RSM, conferred 659 degrees, including 485 baccalaureate degrees, 171 master's degrees and three doctorates.
