After Loss, Stamford North Little League Fights To Stay In Championships

STAMFORD, Conn. — After a 15-4 loss to Waterford on Friday night, the Stamford North Little League Baseball All-Stars will be fighting in a game Saturday to say alive in the Connecticut Little League Baseball State Championship.

The team fell to Waterford in seven innings late Friday in the championship, which is being played at Volunteer Field in Newington. 

The boys from North Stamford now move to the loser's bracket and will play Southington South again on Saturday at 2 p.m. That is the same team North Stamford beat 6-2 on Wednesday in the first round of the state tournament.  

Waterford advances to Sunday’s 2 p.m. championship final. North Stamford must win three straight games to make the championship final. 

Stamford North Little League reached the Connecticut "Final Four" with a dramatic 5-4 win in seven innings over Fairfield American in the Division 1 tournament at Scalzi Park last week.

Stamford North’s team is David Collazo, Ethan Davis, Jayden Dawkins, Todd Guttman, Tucker Healy, Matt Jester, Jay Lockwood, Mason Masterson, Calvin McKeever, Ben Nash, Ethan Skaug, Andrew Stietzel, Patrick Teasdale and Tyler Tuccinardi.

Bob Robustelli is the manager. His assistants are Art Murphy, Dan Possidento and David Skaug.
