The Wilton High School boys finished fifth and the girls took seventh at Tuesday's Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference track and field championships at Danbury High School. The boys totaled 44.50 points, while the girls came in seventh with 37 points, only four behind Brien McMahon.
The boys were led in the track events by Tim Becker, who finished fifth in the 1600 meters (4:33.82), Malcolm Keers took fourth in the 400 meters (51.07) and in the 800 meters, Daniel Prospect finished in fifth (2:02.12). The boys also fared well in a couple of the relays finishing sixth in the 4 x 100 relay (45.13) and third in the 4 x 400 relay (3:37.43).
Edward Hemmerle, Alexander Ward and Jesse Socci each excelled in their field events. Hemmerle was third in the long jump (13.00), Ward came in seventh in the long jump (18-09.235), and Socci took second place in the shot put (45 feet, 9 1/2 inches) and discus (130 feet, one inch).
On the girls side, Wilton was led by Kafeesha Thomas who came in third in the 100 meters (12.83), while they also received good efforts by Brynn Hansson who finished fifth in the 800 meters (2:21.67), Brynn Parsons came in fourth in the 200 meters (27.04) and Sarah Guth came in seventh in the 1600 meters (5:21.48). The relay teams did well also, with the 4 x 800 relay coming in fourth (9:49.70) and sixth in the 4 x 100 relay (51.92).
